The Estate
With origins dating back to the 12th century, during the early years of Portugal’s foundation, Quinta de Azevedo stands as a living testament to the nation’s history. Set in a lush landscape beside the Cávado River, it is distinguished by its imposing 16th-century tower and its remarkable architectural ensemble that has spawned generations. The Azevedo family always held significant influence in the region, which lead to the granting of the Honour of Azevedo to its lineage. Carefully restored by the Guedes family, owners of the estate since 1982, the property today preserves its authentic character, where history, heritage, and nature coexist in perfect harmony.
The Wines
Across Quinta de Azevedo’s 34 hectares of vineyards, two emblematic grape varieties of the region predominate: Loureiro and Alvarinho, cultivated in a landscape shaped by Atlantic freshness. From these vineyards come elegant, complex wines of remarkable longevity, renowned for their freshness, aromatic precision, and ability to express the terroir. The visit culminates in the discovery of these distinctive wines, creating a unique connection between the estate’s centuries-old heritage and the excellence of its wine production. The tasting is accompanied by food pairings conceived by Minho chef António Loureiro, offering an experience that authentically reflects the territory and its identity.
